K24 Test Engine Base Line Test - December 2022
A long time has passed since we last carried out engine R&D on the K24 engine, so we thought it was time to re-visit the platform, and at the same time challenge ourselves by setting a horsepower goal that we have not seen before.
Our goal with this project is to see what can be done without changing anything below the head gasket, i.e. a stock bottom end with just the oil pump changed.
Before any major work can be done we need to establish a baseline. With the engine in the state of modification listed below, we carried out some dyno pulls on our engine dyno. Below you can see the results.
Used 83,000 mile K24A3 Stripped, checked and reassembled
ARP Head studs
Cometic head gasket
Genuine Honda PRB Oil pump
Type R (EP3) Cams and valve springs
Honda RBC Inlet manifold – 74mm
CPL Racing large bore cold air intake with battery relocation kit
3 inch catback exhaust
74mm throttle body
Fuel injector clinic 525cc injectors
The engine was tuned using a Hondata Kpro V4
Please see below for some pictures of the work carried out and some of the parts used, please feel free to email us with any questions you have.
Moving forward, we will show what it takes to increase the power to around the 300hp mark. So keep an eye out for the next instalment.............
