Hondata is without a doubt the best engine management system available for Honda vehicles. As the European Distributor for Hondata we are able to offer all of their range of products from stock, as well as offer ECU modification and socketing as a same day service. Systems Introduction
Honda Civic Type R & Integra Type R - KPro fully programmable ECU (2001 to 2006 models)
The KPro is fully programmable ecu suitable for the Civic and Integra type R using the K Series of engines. It allows us as a tuner or yourself take full control over fuel, ignition, cam angle, vtec, rev limits and more. It also has the benefits of launch control, nitrous control, water injection control, Vtec window, boost tables, 3 bar map option and more. The system comes complete with the software required, instructions and a USB cable. An excellent example of the effectiveness of tuning using the KPro is in the examle below: We took a completely unmodified 2001 Civic Type R, the car had done 45000 miles and had a full service history. First of all the car was strapped to our Dyno Dynamics Chassis Dynamometer and base line torque and horsepower readings were taken. We then proceeded to une the car by first of all altering the air fuel ratio for maximum torque and horsepower at each cam angle, low cam and high cam. We then continued to do the same for the ignition. Then optimum cam angles were chosen and written into the map. Finally the optimum Vtec point was established and a Vtec window was created. The results can be seen in the dyno chart below before and after, most notable of all a 40 bhp increase at 6000 rpm.

Honda Civic Type R & Integra Type R - K100 (2001-2006 models)
The Hondata K100 will give exactly the same power gains as the Kpro above but does not have any user-fuctions, it must be tuned by an authorised Hondata dealer. Honda Civic Type R FN2 and FD2 (European and JDM Versions) For the above cars we have available the Hondata Flashpro system. What is a Hondata System?
A Hondata system consists of additional components which are added to the standard ECU to allow the ECU to use a Hondata program (this modification is normally done by the dealer). An interface box is then connected to the ECU which contains circuitry for datalogging, stores rev limits and interfaces to switches in the vehicle. Optionally a clutch switch, push button and datalogging cable may be installed. Collectively all this is known as a Hondata system.
Hondata S100 System
S100
This is the entry level system tunable by the dealer only is for users who do not wish to tune their vehicle themselves (but offers the same level of tuning as the s200, and don't require additional features such as 3 step rev limiter or datalogging.
What is the s100?
The s100 is the base s-series system which fits inside the ECU and is compatible with the s200 and s200 ROM files.
The s100 is available in a boost and non-boost version. It is not available for PW0 or PR3 ECUs, or for automatic transmission cars.
The Hondata s100 manual is available online.
S100 Features The s100 has the following features:
Fits inside the ECU. No external wiring. Speed limiter removed (if applicable). Tunable fuel and ignition tables. Expanded fuel & ignition tables for boost. Expanded rpm fuel & ignition tables. A/C cutout. VTEC control (non user adjustable). Rev limiter (non user adjustable). Pricing and Options
The base price for the s100 is £CALL!!. This allows the ECU to be tuned by a dealer or anyone with ROM Editor V3 and a programmer. You will need a base program (ROM) for your vehicle/engine/ECU which you can get from your dealer.
S100 system -speed limiter removed (if applicable), tunable fuel and ignition tables, expanded rpm fuel & ignition tables, boost capable, VTEC control, adjustable rev limiter. £199 incl VAT (£169.36 excl VAT for customers outside EEC)

Hondata have developed a special high temperature insulating gasket which replaces the stock intake gasket. This and bypassing several heat sources significantly reduces the transfer of heat from the head to the intake and incoming air giving you up to 5% more power.
Turbocharged cars often use aluminium intercooler to cool the air compressed by the turbo. The intake manifold is also made of aluminium but because it is heated by the head from combustion and coolant, works in reverse to an intercooler by heating the intake air by as much as 50 degrees C.
Fact: For every 3.3 degrees C rise in intake temperature, air density drops 1%. The hotter the air, the less fuel the computer injects to compensate for reduced oxygen. HondaLogger data logging software has enabled us to measure intake air temperature under varied driving conditions.
Around town, testing has shown an average drop of around 10 degrees C which is good for around 3% power increase. Remember though that 3% power increase is difficult to feel. You'd feel a great change in performance getting rid of that passenger. In certain conditions a 30 degrees C drop has been measured.
The Honda manifold is heated in up to 5 places. From the head, the interior heating takeoff hose, the cold idle valve, the idle control valve and the throttle body heater. The Heatshield gasket kit contains an insulating gasket, and installation instruction. A race only version with the thermostat bypass blocked is also available.
The graph above shows the results of installing the Heatshield gasket and bypassing the throttle body heading and idle control valve heating. If you examine a Type R intake manifold you will find that most sources of water heating are removed. Further temperature drops are possible when in addition the interior heating hose is blocked. What the graph shows, is that as you open the throttle, the intake temperature drops slowly as it cools the intake. When you descend a hill with the throttle closed or drive around town on a light throttle the temperature climbs quickly. It takes a good 15-20 seconds for the temperature to drop again when you open the throttle. So if you start your ¼ mile drag with a hot intake manifold - you are only starting to develop maximum power near the end of the run when the intake has been cooled. The Heatshield gasket gives you 4-5% more power immediately by lowering temperature.

The s300 uses different connecting pins in the ECU from the s100/s200, and also has a slot cut in the side for the USB connector, so the ECU must be modified for use with the s300. The s300 is made to fit in a full frame ECU case (US and most markets), so will not fit in a JDM ECU case. USB Connection The s300 uses a high speed USB connection for both programming calibrations and datalogging. No more USB/serial connectors! Real-time Update The s300 can be updated in real-time with the engine running without affecting the operation of the vehicle. This means that calibrations and changes can be uploaded to the ECU very quickly (2 seconds for a new calibration, a fraction of a second for anything else), without interrupting the operation of the engine. Changes made in the SManager software are uploaded to the ECU instantly and you can see the effect immediately. The s300 does not use an EEPROM or equivalent, so you never need to open the ECU to change chips nor 'burn' ROMs. No EPROM programmer is necessary - you just need a laptop with USB port. Datalogging The s300 has datalogging to the SManager software built in via the USB port. Using a laptop the various ECU sensors can be datalogged, viewed, graphed and saved for later analysis. Additionally the s300 has on board flash memory which allows a datalog recordings to be made without a laptop, for later access and download to a laptop. Multiple recordings can be made and stored in the s300 for a total of around 40 minutes of total datalogging time. An external switch can be used to start and stop recordings, or engine conditions can trigger recording. For instance in a drag race, the s300 can be set to start recording once the rpm is bought up to near launch rpm and automatically stop once past the traps and the rpm drops below a certain level. MAP Sensor Compatibility Any linear MAP sensor can be used, using a scalar and offset to translate the MAP sensor characteristics into pressure. Popular MAP sensor settings are built in for ease of setup. To do this you will need the map sensor calibration numbers from the manufacturer of the sensor. |
