CPL Racing : Meet the CPL Team

CPL have 2 teams of people, those that are based in the workshop, and the CPL Honda Drag Racing Team. Below is some personal information on the people in the teams, and also the specs of the race cars.

Guy Chamberlain (Workshop and Race Team)

Age: 41

Home Town: Eastchurch

Started Drag Racing: Bikes in 1985, and Cars in 2004

Place of Work: CPL Racing

Day Job: Tuner and Engine Builder

Best Thing About My Job: Design and development of new performance parts

Worst Thing About My Job: Paperwork (but I solved this one by marrying my Accountant)

Race Team Role: Driver and Race Mechanic

Fastest ET: 10.08 in the CPL Turbo Civic (or 8.95 on a bike in 2003)

Fastest mph: 148 (or 168 on a bike in 2003)

Cars: 04 Plate Silver Turbo Civic Type R, 52 Plate Black N/A Civic Type R, and a Volkswagen van for transporting stock

Length of Time Had Car: Originally my wife’s LloydsTSB company car, but in August 2005 she got bored with having no back seats after the weekend’s racing, bought an Accord and handed over the Civic keys to me for good

Other Interesting Facts about Guy: His drag racing hero is John Force, and he spends his family holidays attending U.S. Drag Racing whenever possible.

Other Interesting Facts about Neil: He's a funny guy, his friends can't help but laugh at him all the time and tell him he should do stand up.........Also Neil is not a qualified mechanic but knows what he's doing when working on his own car. As from Feb 09, Neil took the record for Europe's fastest supercharged Honda.

Elliot Dason-Barber (Race Team)

Place of Work: Red Bull Racing

Day Job: Head of Vehicle Dynamics at F1 Red Bull Racing

Interesting Facts about Elliot: Designed the “Virtual Racer” software used by all of the CPL Racing team. Working on a number of design projects with Guy at CPL. Been building a go-kart for his son, will probably be finished in time for when his GRAND-son is 10.

Elliot is employed as a Group Leader for vehicle dynamics at Red Bull Racing. He manages the team which designs, specifies and develops the vehicle dynamic specifications for the Red Bull Formula 1 racing cars.
